A year after unveiling the latest version of its 457 wheel loader, JCB promised at an event in March 2015 that it would be bringing that machine’s redesigned cab to its smaller loaders. Now, the company’s four-model, mid-range loader lineup features that CommandPlus cab and new Tier 4 Final engines.

JCB EcoMax diesel engines power the new 411 and 417, providing 108 and 125 horsepower, respectively. Cummins engines power the new 427 and 437, providing 179 and 183 hp, respectively. The engines are paired with automatic powershift transmissions.

JCB employs several features in these new loaders to increase cooling efficiency and keep dust and particles out of the engine bay. A fine mesh bonnet grille traps larger particles before entering the cyclonic pre-filter. The engine’s cooling fan removes dust particles from the pre-cleaner using a cyclonic scavenge system, rather than using hotter exhaust gases to deliver the cyclonic action. In addition, wide core cooling packs reduce dust accumulation and a reversible cooling fan is available as an option.

None of these four new loaders require a Diesel Particulate Filter and all feature a new single-piece engine hood that can be raised manually or electronically.

Standard HT loader arms come on the 411 and 417 and are available in parallel and non-parallel lift. Bucket capacity on the 411 is 1.4 cubic meters and 1.7m3 on the 417. The 427 and 437 can be ordered with either the HT or power ZX loader arms in a range of lengths. Bucket capacity on the 427 is 2.4m3 and 2.7m3 on the 437.

New cab

Each of the four new loaders feature JCB’s CommandPlus cab. (The gallery above shows the view from the CommandPlus configuration on the larger 457 loader.) This cab, introduced on the 457, features a new ROPS structure whose B pillars have been moved out to the same width as the rear of the cab. This change increases the size of the cab interior and provides a panoramic front windscreen.

JCB further increased interior space by repositioning the HVAC system outside of the main cab structure. Thanks to the larger interior space, additional storage has been added behind the seat and in the pockets in the front and side consoles.

Another benefit of the CommandPlus cab is its added comfort. JCB says noise and vibration are down from previous cabs and operators will enjoy a range of seat and control options.

The new loaders also feature JCB’s Command Driving Position with revised pedals, an adjustable steering column and seat-mounted hydraulic controls.

The new CommandPlus design also repositioned switches and auxiliary controls to the right hand B pillar to further simply the interior. Color LCD displays give operators access to the rear view camera, operating menus and auxiliary flow rate adjustments. The display also allows for adjustments to timing and cooling fan reversal as well as SRS boom suspension engagement speeds, when outfitted.
