The International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) and the IPAF Summit conference will be held on March 26, 2013, at the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel, Florida. The IAPAs and IPAF Summit, which will take place in the United States for the first time this year, will include several events March 25-27.
On March 25, IPAF will host a half-day Aerial Work Platforms (AWPs) for Managers course from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. at a location next to the conference hotel. The course, which targets project managers, construction foremen, supervisors and other personnel who need to manage the use of AWPs on site, will cover material such as equipment selection, legal responsibilities, safe and effective use and planning for the use of multiple AWPs in confined areas. However, the course will not provide operator training. Candidates will take a written test and receive a certificate of completion if successful. To register for the course, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also on March 25, IPAF will host the IPAF Networking Event in which attendees will have the opportunity to meet colleagues, customers and industry professionals in an informal atmosphere at Villa 221, across the street from the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel. This free event, which is open to all IPAF members and to people holding a ticket for the IAPA Awards Dinner, includes a buffet and entertainment in a garden setting. Spaces are limited to 250 attendees. Register at www.iapa-summit.info.
On March 26, IPAF will host a full day of conferences and seminars at the IPAF Summit. At 9 a.m. IPAF members can attend the IPAF Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be followed by breakout seminars open to all attendees. These seminars will cover topics related to AWPs and mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs), ranging from inspections and maintenance to accident reporting and safety training.
The afternoon of March 26, attendees can attend the plenary conference, which will include the keynote address from Ron DeFeo, chairman and CEO of Terex. Other speakers include Michael Kneeland, president and CEO of United Rentals, and Sérgio Kariya, managing director of the rental division of Mills Estruturas e Serviços de Engenharia SA in Brazil.
The Summit will be held in English with simultaneous translations in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Attendance is free. Register at www.iapa-summit.info.
The IAPAs will take place the evening of March 26 at the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel and will include a dinner and an awards ceremony. The IAPAs award powered access industry members for best practice and excellence. Award categories include products, projects, rental companies and after-sales service. Winners and finalists will be chosen by an independent panel of judges. The event is ticket-only, which can be purchased at www.iapa-summit.info.
On March 27, IPAF will offer visits to rental depots and construction sites in the vicinity. Details will be announced at the end of 2012.
