There is this bridge.
And it is something to see.
The Sheikh Zayed Bridge joins Abu Dhabi Island to the mainland on the southern shore of the Persian Gulf, and it is an excellent example of the seamless coming together of design, engineering and construction within a single transportation project.
New photos from London company Hufton + Crow show off its grandeur.
The bridge was finished in 2010 and is more than 2,700 feet long. Its fluid arches are more than 200 feet at their highest. And, despite a design that makes it a huge work of art, it is very much a working bridge with four traffic lanes and a road deck on either side.
