While the industry has long shortened the International Construction & Utility Equipment Expo (ICUEE) to a phonetic β€œIQ,” show producer Association of Equipment Manufacturers says a brand change was in order. ICUEE is now The Utility Expo, slated for Sept. 28-30, 2021.

The Utility Logo Then Now Lockup 2 1AEM says better reflects the show experience: β€œan event that introduces professionals from all utility sectors to the new equipment, ideas and innovations they need – all in one place.”

β€œWe listened to our attendees and exhibitors and are building an industry event to help them grow their businesses,” says Dave Hughes, vice president of global sales for McElroy Manufacturing and The Utility Expo 2021 show chair. β€œWe are focused on continuing to improve the overall experience for all show participants and have some very exciting changes in store for 2021.  Our new name reflects our commitment and focus on the utility industry.”

The show began in the mid-1960s when Illinois Bell invited 12 trencher manufacturers to demonstrate their equipment in an Elburn, Illinois, field. Since the beginning, equipment demonstrations have always been a defining characteristic of the event.

The show, held every two years, will return to the Kentucky Exposition Center. More than 19,000 utility professionals and construction contractors are expected to attend, says AEM.
