Hitachi introduces two new compact excavators ”standard boom on one, swing boom on the other

MOLINE, IL. (April 15, 2008) ” The ZX75US-3 and ZX85USB-3 Hitachi excavators are two new compact ultra-shorts that are long on features. Plus they are the perfect size for all kinds of jobs including landscaping, light residential, urban renewal, and underground utilities.

Not too big and not too small, these just-right-sized machines deliver all the power, smoothness, precision, and ease of operation owners and operators expect from the larger Hitachi excavators ” in an easy-to-maneuver package. They also let theoperator focus on the business end of production and worry less about what™s behind. And they reduce the potential for damage to the surrounding area or to the machine itself. Getting closer to the action also eliminates the need for a lot of hand work. Choose steel shoes or outfit the compacts with rubber pads or rubber crawler belts to be the landscaper™s best friend. The new shape of the backfill blade provides better crowding performance, additional machine stability, and is easier to see by the operator. The swing boom on the ZX85USB-3 adds yet another dimension of performance by enabling parallel digging to walls, guard rails, and foundations, making it ideal for excavation and utility work.

Scalpel-like Precision with Less Effort

At the heart of these two new Hitachi excavators is the superbly match of the turbo-charged Isuzu 4LE2X engine and Hitachi™s own patented HIOS III hydraulic system. Gutsy, rugged, and remarkably fuel-efficient, the Isuzu Tier-3-certified engine outperforms the competition and works very well at high altitudes without sacrificing performance. Regenerative flow on the boom, stick and bucket cylinders result in faster down movements, extremely fine control, and multitasking.

Spacious, Comfortable Cabs

The special shape of the ZX85USB-3 cab accommodates the path of the swing boom without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Both models™ cabs also feature a deluxe suspension cloth seat, controls, advanced multilingual LCD monitor, slide-open front glass, generous leg room, short-throw/low-effort controls, and tinted, transparent roof hatch.

Two engine modes can be selected to match engine rpm to the operating conditions and application. The E (economy) mode for light-duty work reduces fuel consumption from eight to twelve percent, by lowering engine speed ” without sacrificing productivity. It also reduces noise levels. The P (standard) mode provides an excellent balance of power and fuel economy for most tasks. It controls the engine speed from slow idle to fast idle in response to the position of the engine speed dial. With more horsepower, lift capacity, swing torque, and drawbar pull, you can expect big productivity from the ZX75US-3 and ZX85USB-3.
