Granite Construction VP/general counsel retiring Aug. 31

Granite Construction‘s vice president and general counsel, Michael Futch, will retire on Aug. 31.

Terry K. Eller has been named vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Sept. 1. Eller will also be serving as Granite’s corporate compliance officer.

“Mike has been a tremendous asset to our executive management team over the past 14 years,” said William G. Dorey, Granite’s president and chief executive officer, in a press statement. “Mike was instrumental in the founding of the Construction Industry Ethics and Compliance Initiative, an association of the leading construction firms in the nation that is dedicated to promoting ethics and compliance in the construction industry. On behalf of all of us at Granite, we thank him for his many years of service and wish him all the best in retirement.

“I am pleased to announce the board’s naming of Terry Eller as Granite’s next vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and corporate compliance officer,” Dorey continued. “Terry brings a wealth of knowledge to Granite, and I am confident that under her leadership Granite will remain a leader in the industry for its high ethical standards.”

In her new role, Eller will oversee all legal, compliance and corporate secretary activities as well as provide strategic counsel to the Board of Directors and senior management. Eller joined Granite in May 2010 as deputy general counsel. She has served in a variety of legal roles for other construction and engineering companies, including international legal counsel and principal for the consulting firm 5 RMK and vice president of investor relations and vice president of international law at Washington Group International.
