On the heels of sister brand Chevrolet’s introduction of the 2017 Colorado, GMC has revealed more details on its own 2017 midsize pickup lineup, including the announcement of a new trim in the Canyon All Terrain X.

Introduced in February on 2016 Sierra models, All Terrain X is a premium off-road trim that will be offered on Canyon SLE models. And though the Canyon All Terrain X doesn’t pack the V8 that big brother Sierra does, a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel is an option in addition to the new standard 3.6-liter V6 introduced with the 2017 Colorado. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed gearbox.

The Canyon All Terrain X sits on Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac P255/65R17 all-terrain tires and 17-inch aluminum wheels, packs Hill Descent Control, off-road suspension and a transfer case shield.

Exterior features include a body-color grille surround, rear step bumper, spray-on bedliner and 3-inch diameter round step bars. The truck also features heated front seats and remote start. The 2017 Canyon All Terrain X will go on sale in the fourth quarter this year along with the rest of the 2017 Canyon lineup, which includes the new Denali model announced in December. GMC says it has added the following features across the whole 2017 Canyon lineup:

  • New IntelliLink radio with 7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen
  • Standard Teen Driver Mode through IntelliLink
  • Available heated steering wheel
  • Exterior colors Dark Slate Metallic, Mineral Metallic and Red Quartz Metallic
