GM recalls nearly 50,000 Chevrolet Colorados, GMC Canyon pickups due to seat defect

Updated May 19, 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a defect notification recall that affects 49,980 Chevy Colorados and GMC Canyons.

The recalled trucks were manufactured between January 6, 2014, and April 1, 2015.

Recall notice 15V267  says the hooks that secure the driver’s and/or front passenger’s seat frame may not have been properly attached to the vehicle body during assembly.

The notice says that in the event of a crash, a person in one of the affected seats could be at an increased risk of an injury.

General Motors will notify owners and dealers will inspect the seats, correcting their installation as necessary, free of charge.
