Of the five “Hottest” vehicle awards the show awards each year, Ford took home three at this year’s show with the F-Series being named Hottest Truck, the Mustang grabbing Hottest Coupe and the Focus winning Hottest Hatch. Last year, Ford became the first manufacturer to win three categories in one year and this year it became the first to repeat the feat.
The Hottest Truck win is the sixth for the F-Series. The award has only been handed out seven times.
The awards are determined by a vehicle’s total presence at the show, with each booth counting as a “ballot” and the number of appearances by a vehicle in a booth as a “vote.” More than 2,400 exhibitors were part of this year’s vote.
The remaining SEMA vehicle awards, Hottest Sedan and Hottest 4×4/SUV, both went to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Dodge Charger and Jeep Wrangler, respectively.
