When building the world’s quickest-accelerating street-legal vehicle, maybe one of the last bodies you’d decide to wrap that type of horsepower in would be a 1998 Chevrolet S-10. Chevy’s old midsize pickup just doesn’t scream “speed.” But that’s exactly the package Larry Larson chose and his S-10 recently accelerated to 219 miles per hour to complete a drag run at Hot Rod‘s Drag Week in world record 6.16 seconds.

According to Truck Trend, the S-10 packs a twin-turbocharged 620ci big-block V-8 that they estimate pushes more than 2,000 horsepower. In the video below, Larson obliterates his competition and smashes the previous Drag Week best of 209 mph and 6.94 seconds which he set in a Chevy II. Check it out below.
