Chinese aerial lift manufacturer Sinoboom has appointed former Caterpillar executive Kolin Kirschenmann as the president and CEO of its new North American subsidiary.

Kirschenmann, who served as president of Cat’s Forestry Products division and worked for the company for 30 years, began his new position this month in Katy, Texas.

Sinoboom General Manager Susan Xu said the hiring of Kirschenmann shows the company’s intentions “to accelerate our growth in 2020 and look to build our presence in North America.”

“Kolin brings terrific experience in leading initiatives and driving commercial success in the construction equipment sector,” Xu says. “I truly believe he will help to drive our expansion strategy forward.”

Sinoboom’s entrance to the U.S. market follows Chinese aerial lift manufacturer LGMG, which hired longtime JLG executive Craig Paylor to launch its North American operations last year.

Both companies made debuts at ConExpo this year. Sinoboom also is launching a European subsidiary this year.

Sinoboom’s Linked-In page shows it is hiring regional sales managers and service managers to be based in the Houston area.

Sinoboom manufacturers articulated and telescopic boom lifts, scissor lifts and vertical mast lifts, among other aerial products. It is a private company founded in 2008 in China.

Kirschenmann says he is looking forward to launching Sinoboom in North America.

“Although the recent pandemic has slowed down the access industry, our customized marketing campaigns will launch in North America very soon,” he says. “The first step is to let more people know who we are. The second priority is hear the voices of customers – only when we know what the market needs can we then deliver the right products. This is the key.”
