Chevrolet launches CNG-powered Silverado 3500HD chassis cab

Updated May 17, 2015

Chevrolet has announced that its chassis cab Silverado 3500HD will be its latest one-ton pickup to gain bi-fuel capability.

Customers will be able to outfit the chassis cab 3500HD with the capability of powering the truck with compressed natural gas or gasoline. The truck joins Chevy’s regular cab 2500HD and 3500HD in that capability.

The chassis cab’s turnkey setup will include a 24.5-gallon CNG tank located behind the cab and a 23.5-gallon gas tank.

Chevy says bi-fuel will be available on the regular cab 3500HD in both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains in the fourth quarter of this year.

If you’d rather have a CNG half-ton, Ford remains the only automaker to offer that setup and just recently launched a bi-fuel option on its 2016 F-150.
