CRSI announces 2010 Design Award winners

Richmond OvalThe Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute announced the winners of the biennial 2010 CRSI Design Awards program, which honors designers for excellence in reinforced concrete structures. Entries were evaluated on aesthetics, innovation, engineering achievement, functional excellence and economy of construction. Winners include:


Bridge category:

  • Winner: David Kreitzer for the Lake Hodges Pedestrian Bridge in San Diego, California
  • Winner: The I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • Honorable mention: SH58 Ramp A of Flyover Bridge in Golden, Colorado


Commercial buildings:

  • Honorable mention: 2201 Westlake/Enso Building in Seattle, Washington


Cultural and Entertainment Facilities

  • Winner: Richmond Speed Skating Oval in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada
  • Honorable mention: New Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas


Education and Healthcare Facilities

  • Winner: Cardiovascular Innovation Institute in Louisville, Kentucky


Residential Buildings

  • Winner: Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, Illinois
  • Winner: The Ascent at Roebling’s Bridge in Covington, Kentucky
  • Winner: Raven House in Fox Point, Wisconsin
  • Honorable mention: Nighthawk Retreat in Washington state.
