Construction worker found dead beneath home in Austin

Two days after a construction worker was discovered beneath a home in Texas, authorities determined his death was due to electrocution.

According to a report from the Austin American-Statesman, workers at a home on Grayson Lane in East Austin, where it appears renovations were taking place, noticed that their co-worker, 51-year-old Rafael Torres-Leyva, was missing on September 1.

That evening one of Torres-Leyva’s co-workers discovered his body beneath the home.

Austin police and officials with the Travis County medical examiner’s office investigated the scene. The medical examiner determined that Torres-Leyva’s death was an accidental electrocution.

Local officials reported his death to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Statesman reported.
