According to the Cincinnati Fire Department, construction workers were preparing the demolition of the old Hopple Street overpass when a “pancake collapse” occurred causing a section of the bridge to crumble onto Interstate 75.

The collapse killed one construction worker and injured a truck driver. Police say the truck driver is lucky to be alive, but he is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.
