Though Chevy has released several special edition pickups in the last few years, the automaker says its Midnight Edition trucks, introduced on the 2015 Silverado 1500, have been especially successful.

Citing demand that “outstripped supply in a matter of months,” Chevy has announced the addition of the Silverado 2500 Z71 to its available models for the Midnight trim level. Joining the 2016 1500 and 2500 Silverado Z71 models is the 2016 Colorado Z71 Midnight, which Chevy unveiled in September.

The most distinctive features of the truck pertain to its all-black exterior which includes a body-colored grille with black Chevy bowtie, bumper, headlamp bezels, tow hooks, fog lamps as well as black side moldings and belt line moldings and black painted alloy wheels.

Apart from the sinister exterior, the Midnight edition pickups are fairly capable off-roaders with an off-road suspension, locking rear differential, transfer case shield, hill descent control and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires.

And though we’ve already seen Chevy announce Silverado Realtree and Special Ops editions along with the Colorado Trail Boss, the automaker says we can expect to see more models announced later this year.
