Caterpillar has taken the wraps off its newest machine. The 903C compact wheel loader boasts an operating weight of 9,150 pounds and is designed for work in the construction, industrial, agricultural, landscaping and snow-removal markets.

The machine is powered by the 42-horsepower, Tier 4 Interim Cat C2.4 engine and is paired with a hydrostatic transmission. The combo allows for travel speed up to 10 miles peer hour. Cat offers axles with differential locks are available for better traction in sloppy conditions.

Attaching to the machine’s hydraulic system through a Z-bar linkage, a 0.8 cubic-yard bucket comes standard and a light material 1.3 cubic-yard bucket is available for the machine as well as 36 or 42-inch pallet forks.

The machine features 14 gallon-per-minute auxiliary flow and Cat says it works with a “range of standard-flow hydro-mechanical tools” that quickly attach through the 903C’s coupler. Cat says counterweights that increase lift capacity are an available option as are three different tires: 12-inch construction type, 15.5-inch flotation type and Flexport, a puncture-proof tire.

Inside the machine’s spacious cab, independent levers control lift, tilt and auxiliary functions. The cab also features dual entry doors with sliding windows, a tilting steering column and centrally-located gauge cluster. Air conditioning and heat are an available option and Cat says an open canopy option will be available next year.

The 903C’s hood fully opens and allows for ground-level access to service points. You can take a look at full specs below.
