Caterpillar announced Tuesday that it would extend its standard full-machine warranty on select new compact equipment to 24 months or 2,000 hours.

New skid-steer loaders, compact track loaders, multi-terrain loaders and compact excavators purchased after January 1 are covered by the extended warranty.

Cat’s previous warranty for these machines was 1-year, unlimited hours.

Compact wheel loaders, such as Cat’s 903C2, 906M, 907M,  908M, were not mentioned in Cat’s press release on the extended warranty.

Caterpillar’s action follows Case Construction Equipment’s November announcement that it had extended its standard full-machine warranty on skid steers and CTLs to 2 years, 2,000 hours, up from its previous 1-year, 1,000-hour warranty. In 2015, Case offered a limited-time 3-year warranty for these two machines.

In 2016, John Deere announced it would briefly extend its warranty on its compact track loaders, skid steer loaders, compact wheel loaders and compact excavators. For a limited time, Deere extended its full-machine warranty to a 1-year, unlimited hour coverage, followed by a second year 2,000-hour coverage on machine powertrain and hydraulics.

New Volvo skid steers, CTLs, compact excavators and compact wheel loaders are covered by its lifetime frame and structure warranty, which fully covers the boom, arm and frame.
