Bobcat R&D expansion brings total Bismarck investment to $35 million

Bobcat acceleration centerBobcat recently broke ground on a new $20 million renovation and expansion at the Northern Plains Commerce Centre in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Comstock Construction Inc. of Wahpeton, North Dakota is building the new facility and expanding the original building built in 2005. When complete, Bobcat will have invested $35 million total in Bismarck.

The new building, dubbed the Acceleration Center by Bobcat, will serve as a research and development facility for the company and will include a test track and an 35,000-square-foot indoor testing facility.

An expansion of an existing building at the complex will include a two-story office building that will add 160,000 square-feet of space. The Bobcat Acceleration Center will house 135 employees.

The new facility will also be used for employee, customer and dealer training as well as hands-on experiences with the latest Bobcat equipment.

“We created the compact equipment industry, and the Acceleration Center will ensure the Bobcat tradition of innovation and market leadership continues,” said Bobcat President Rich Goldsbury in a prepared statement. You can watch a video from the groundbreaking below.
