Bobcat has expanded its offering of flail mower attachments with the introduction of the new 40-inch FMR.
The X-Change mounting system comes standard for connecting the mower to Bobcat’s E63 compact excavator. However, a pin-on mounting system or optional pin-grabber quick coupler option are available allowing mounting to the E80 and E85 excavators.
The mower features a direct drive mower, triple-knife design and a compact deck allowing it to maintain surface contact while ripping through hard and soft woods, vines, grass and brush across varying ground contours.
Bobcat points out three features on the mower that decrease downtime:
- Reversible flails: Provides bi-directional rotation by switching the hydraulic hoses at the drive motor.
- Rubber torsion disc: Absorbs stress forces encountered during operation.
- Heavy-duty flanges: Protects the drive train from dust and debris, and prevents wires from damaging the drive train mechanism.
Safety features include a side safety chain within the housing to deflect and contain thrown debris, and a rotor brake which stops the mower from full speed in seven seconds or less when the hydraulics are deactivated.
