JohnsonThe Michigan Transportation Asset Management Council (TAMC) has named Joanna Johnson as its new chair.
Johnson is the managing director of the Kalamazoo County Road Commission and is on the board of directors for the Association of Southern Michigan County Road Agencies.
The TAMC was created in 2002 as an agency aimed at recommending asset management strategy to the Michigan Transportation Commission and the Michigan legislature for all the state’s roads and bridges.
Michigan uses transportation asset management “to manage public assets, such as roads and bridges, based on the long-range condition of the entire transportation systems.”
“I am honored to lead the TAMC and continue the efforts in asset management principles which are vital to maintaining our infrastructure. Together as partners, we all look forward to our continued efforts to effectively and efficiently preserve our infrastructure, and to be part of the solution to improve Michigan’s infrastructure. We know that infrastructure is a valuable asset in every community,” Johnson says.
“We are thankful for the data that is collected annually on the conditions of our infrastructure by our asset management partners at the Michigan Department of Transportation, cities, villages, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Regional Planning Organizations, and other road agencies. We know that asset management is the best management practice focusing on preserving the condition of our roads, rather than allowing them to deteriorate to a more expensive state of repair.”
