According to WESH, 25-year-old Guillermo Solis, an employee of Lane Construction Corp., was working on a road widening and reconstruction project in Ocoee when the accident happened.
“He was transported via ambulance to Health Central nearby. Unfortunately, he died from his injuries,” the Ocoee Police Department’ Sgt. Mireya Iannuuzzi said.
The accident is currently under investigation, but a preliminary investigation said the man was working below the crane at the Florida State Road 50 construction site when an unidentified object fell from the crane and struck him in the head.
Lane Construction, which is based in Connecticut, issued a statement after the accident to the family of Solis.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Guillermo at this very difficult time,” the statement read.
