ATSSA receives a federal grant of $4.4 million for national safety training

The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) was recently awarded a federal grant for $4.4 million. Spread over a three-year period, the grant was awarded for work zone safety to train highway workers work zone safety practices. J.M. Morales and Associates and Science Applications International Corporation are partners in the grant.

The grant covers work zone safety worker training, work zone safety guidelines development, and work zone safety guidelines training.

ATSSA’s Director of Training and Business Development Donna Clark said of the grant, “In addition to exceptional classroom training for workers from coast-to-coast, the new grant will give ATSSA the opportunity to develop many other unique products and services, such as podcasts, smart phone applications, on-line training, and much more,”

ATSSA has trained more than 30,000 people and distributed more 150,000 guidelines products to work zone workers and transportation organizations
