Alaskan corrections center project to provide 700 construction jobs

Alaska’s Goose Greek Corrections Center will provide around 700 construction jobs for residents of Point MacKenzie, Alaska, and its surrounding areas.

The $240 million project is the largest building construction for the state in recent history. The 435,000- square- foot facility will house more than 1,500 inmates and provide approximately 400 full-time jobs. Anchorage-based Neeser Construction is the general contractor for the project.

The ground breaking ceremony took place on June 17 and was attended by guests such as Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin and industry professionals. Wacker Neuson representatives were also on hand at the ceremony. Neeser plans to use a variety of Wacker Neuson products for the project.
