The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Center for Excellence in Project Finance has released an online database on state transportation finance and governance. Building on the existing state-by-state informational database on highway finance, the new resource is based on a comprehensive 2011 report by the AASHTO Center and the National Conference of State Legislatures, says AASHTO.
The database—which includes a detailed profile of every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico—offers the current snapshot to a rich diversity of approaches to govern, finance, and ultimately deliver America’s transportation system. Specifically, information on transportation revenue tools, financing mechanisms, governance structures, and executive-legislative dynamics are presented in both mapped and tabular formats.
Access AASHTO’s 50-state transportation finance database here. The database, which includes an interactive map, is the most comprehensive resource of its kind, says AASHTO, and is based on the Transportation Governance and Finance: A 50-State Review of State Legislatures and Departments of Transportation report. “Combined with the Center’s existing state-by-state benchmarking data, this enhanced module highlights the roles and relationships among the branches of state government that are most active in transportation issues,” says AASHTO.
