The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2012 Young Executive Development Program, which will take place May 29-June 1 in Washington, D.C.
The YEDP will introduce young executives to the federal legislative and regulatory processes and will show participants how the two impact the transportation design and construction industry. The program features sessions on highway and transit financing, economics, environmental, regulatory and legal issues, public-private partnerships and industry innovation.
YEDP will take place in conjunction with ARTBA’s annual Federal Issues Program and Transportation Construction Coalition Fly-In, allowing participants the opportunity to meet with Congress about pending transportation issues. During the program, industry firm CEOs will share their career experiences and offer participants their perspectives on leadership and business issues.
Participants will leave the program with more knowledge about ARTBA’s role in shaping the transportation policy debate on Capitol Hill, and they will gain a greater understanding about how to help grow the transportation construction market in the future.
In order to be eligible for the YEDP, nominees should be under 40 years of age, though exceptions may be made; should have at least three years of experience in the transportation design and construction industry, have made a significant contribution to the work of his or her firm and shown evidence of strong leadership potential for the industry; and must be nominated by a sponsor and submit a completed application form and a 1-to-2 page statement describing the reasons for applying.
A principal of the firm, a senior executive within the governmental agency, or a senior-level faculty member at the university which employs the applicant should write a letter of nomination and recommendation, which must accompany each application.
In addition, the individual who nominates the most applicants to complete the program will win an iPad 2.
Applications must be received at The ARTBA Building in Washington, D.C., by March 15. To obtain a copy of the application form, visit artbatdf.org . For more information, contact ARTBA’s Kenyon Gleason or Caitrin Reed at 202-289-4434.
