World of Concrete course: ‘Guide for Use of Volumetric-Measuring and Continuous-Mixing Concrete Equipment’

The World Center of Concrete Technologies (WCCT) will be offering a course on calibration and operation of volumetric concrete mixers.

The WCCT is located on the campus of Alpena Community College where they conduct education, training, testing and research for concrete-related industries.

The center also offers an associate’s degree in applied science degree in concrete technology, a two-year college degree that provides students a hands-on approach to education in concrete technology.

The WCCT will be working in conjunction with Cemen Tech, Inc., as well as Hanley-Wood Publications in kicking off the program.

A luncheon and forum will be held for attendees at the 2011 World of Concrete in Las Vegas.

The forum will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20, in room S221 of the Las Vegas Convention Center from 12:00 noon to 2 p.m.

The cost for the luncheon is $80 if registration is done by 12/09/10; $105 after 12/09/10 & onsite.

Rich Szecsy, chairman of ASTM C09.40 will be addressing the attendees and speaking about ASTM C685. Boris Stein of ACI Committee 304 will present on the ACI document 304.6R which is the “Guide for Use of Volumetric-Measuring and Continuous-Mixing Concrete Equipment.” The seminar will conclude with Erik Krebs from the WCCT unveiling the dates and times of the new volumetric operators training course and lay out what the program will cover.
