Update: The Boston Globe reports the worker, 54-year-old Lawrence O’Leary, has died from his injuries. O’Leary passed on July 25, more than two weeks after his fall. The post below has been updated to reflect this change.

An ironworker securing a concrete panel has succumbed to his injuries more than two weeks after he suffered a 40-foot fall at Logan International Airport in Boston earlier this month.

According to the Boston Globe, the 54-year-old worker was working with a crew building a parking garage at the airport on July 10.

He was standing on the third floor of the garage and working to secure a 32-ton concrete panel being hoisted by a crane when the panel fell.

Though it remains unclear exactly why, the worker fell soon after the panel.

Turner Construction is the lead contractor on the 10-story, $80 million garage project with Blakeslee Prestress as a subcontractor. The worker is a member of Ironworkers Local Union 424 in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Port Authority, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.
