Henrik Larsson was all about articulated haulers. As artic product specialist at Volvo Construction Equipment, Larsson was a passionate advocate for the Volvo brand for more than 15 years.

And so after he passed away last year at the age of 45 following a battle with sarcoma, a rare form of cancerous tumor that grows in the connective tissue of the body, the team at Volvo CE searched for a way to honor their colleague.

While Volvo CE celebrated the 50th anniversary of its articulated hauler with a gold-painted machine, the company says that “commemorating Henrik was a much taller order, as the goal was to capture the joy and passion he had and share it with others.”

The solution was Henrik the Hauler, a coloring and sticker book that Volvo debuted at MINExpo, and that it intends to pass out at trade shows and other events. (See the video below.)

“That childhood happiness that comes when you’re doing something you love every day—Henrik not only showed that in his work, but in the way he interacted with his team members and customers,” says Dave Foster, Volvo CE vice president, marketing and communications. A comic book character, Foster says, “felt like the perfect fit to commemorate Henrik.”
