Construction on 1717 Broadway in New York City, now the tallest hotel in North America and the Western Hemisphere, recently completed. The hotel stands at 753 feet tall and is the home to two Mariott hotels: the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Central Park and the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park. It contains a total of 639 rooms and 68 floors. Construction began in 2009 and wrapped up late last year. The hotel opened on Dec. 29, 2013.
However, this new Mariott is nowhere near the world’s tallest. That honor belongs to the 1,164-foot JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. Thankfully, the EarthCam cameras were rolling during the entire 27-month construction of this continent’s tallest. Check out the video below.
