VDOT considers 10 public-private partnership projects

VDOT_Logo [1]The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is considering 10 transportation projects as candidates for public-private partnerships [2].

Governor Bob McDonnell yesterday released the state’s Public-Private Partnerships’ (“OTP3″) Draft 2013 Virginia PPTA Pipeline, which contains the P3 candidate projects as well as 10 conceptual projects.

The P3 [3] candidate projects are ready to be moved through the screening process, while the conceptual projects require further analysis before moving through the screening process.

The state’s P3 candidate projects are:

  • I-66 Corridor Improvements

  • Air Rights Development

  • I-64 HOV to HOT [4] Conversion

  • I-64 Peninsula Improvements

  • Hampton Roads Crossing Improvements

  • I-73 Corridor Improvement Project

  • Route 460/58 Connector

  • I-495 Express Lanes Extension

  • Cell Tower/Fiber Optic Opportunities

  • Route 460/I-85 Connector

The state’s conceptual projects include:

  • Weigh-In-Motion Truck Validation System

  • Availability Payments

  • Wallops Island Visitor and Support Facilities

  • Advertising/Sponsorship Opportunities

  • Parking Facilities Enhancements

  • New Park and Ride Facilities

  • I-81 Managed Travel Lanes System

  • Rest Area Enhancements – Electric Car Charging Stations

  • Rest Area Enhancements – Truck Parking Facilities at High Priority Locations

  • Route 460 Business Corridor Improvements
