Truck Trend has released its 2013 Best in Class rankings and a few of the categories should be of particular interest to readers here.

For starters, the site named the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500 HD Best Work Truck. That category is reserved for regular cab, 3/4-ton, two-wheel-drive pickups. Truck Trend says that it feels like the 2013 Ram Heavy-Duty likely would have taken the top spot in this category, but they wouldn’t have felt right handing over an award to a truck that isn’t for sale yet and hasn’t announced a price.

So the honor goes to the GM trucks. Truck Trend says the Silverado/Sierra 2500 HD tie the Ford Super Duty F-250 in maximum operating weight, but the GM trucks beat the F-250 by 1,000 pounds in towing capacity.

Another category of interest is the “Power Puller” category. Here, Ford’s F-350 Super Duty Platinum got the nod over the Ram HD 3500 Laramie Longhorn. Truck Trend says the new Super Duty Platinum has “a good-looking cabin, 22,300-pound towing capacity, and a near-6000-pound payload.”

Finally, Truck Trend awarded the F-150 SuperCrew the award for best two-wheel-drive crew cab—which the majority of the consumer market picks from. Truck Trend likes Ford’s EcoBoost engines and notes that the F-150 tops the list â€śwhen it comes to towing capacity, (max operating weight), and payload capacity.”
