Topcon celebrated its 80th anniversary on September 1.

Topcon celebrated its 80th anniversary on September 1.

Since 1932, the Tokyo-based company has become an affiliate with Toshiba, expanded in Europe and America and began producing and selling GPS-related products, among other endeavors.

The company has technology centers in Tokyo; Adelaide, Australia; Moscow, Russia; Concordia, Italy; Livermore, California; and Columbus, Ohio.

Topcon’s most recent accomplishments include its acquisition of Destura and Tierra in Italy, start of several major dealer operations (including in Italy and Spain), expansion of its Chinese subsidiary and sales, establishment of Topcon Medical Laser Systems, entering the therapeutic laser market and establishment of operations in the Middle East and Africa.
