There are no shortcuts through road construction

Police in Grand Blanc, Michigan, are starting to crack down on drivers looking for shortcuts through road construction. Officers are keeping an eye out for any commuters who may try to cut through business parking lots to avoid traffic.

Drivers cutting through parking lots end up hurting the businesses because the increased traffic scares customers away.

“It’s a problem in a lot of areas and jurisdictions when you have congestion problems,” Township Police Chief David Stamm said. “It’s a violation of the law and it’s dangerous to motor traffic and pedestrian traffic.”

Police are starting to give out tickets to anyone who is cutting through the private businesses just to avoid road construction traffic. Stamm encourages drivers to either find an alternative route, or be patient through the construction zone.
