It’s either feast or famine.
After several years of minimal maintenance and street resurfacing in the Chicago area because of state funding shortfalls, dozens of projects were carried out last year because of stimulus funding. And about 45 miles of road projects are slated for resurfacing this year, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Chicago Tribune reports.
A final list of projects still is being developed and contracts have not been awarded yet, said CDOT spokesman Brian Steele, but work is expected to begin in the spring and run through the fall, according to the Tribune report.
