Sullivan: Tinge of optimism

Ed Sullivan, chief economist, Portland Cement Association, now views the construction industry forecast with a “tinge of optimism,” although he warns that most real recovery is still a few years off. “We expect the industry to remain flat through 2014, with only marginal increases in 2015,” he said today, speaking at a World of Concrete press conference.

“We continue to believe in a synchronized recovery,” he said, “and any time one portion of the recovery breaks down, the whole cycle breaks down. Jobs will determine the healing process in the construction recovery.”
