Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association names Truck Driver of the Year

Glenn Heyn of Rochester, Minn.-based Midwest Specialized Transportation, was named Truck Driver of the Year during the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) Annual Conference, April 6-10, at the Omni Hotel at Champions Gate, Orlando.

In his 32 years of professional driving, he has driven more than 3.5 million miles and has been awarded the SC&RA Million Miler Award for one million consecutive, accident-free miles. During his 28 years at Midwest Specialized he has been named Driver of the Quarter six times since 1997 and has also been selected the company driver of the year twice — in 1997 and 2007. Additionally, he has been the recipient of the Minnesota Trucking Association’s Driver of the Month Award.

“This year’s winner has a reputation for maintaining a top-notch work ethic and true professional attitude and is also known as a team player,” noted SC&RA President Paul LeFebvre in a press statement â€śOur Driver of the Year prides himself on preparation and planning and takes nothing for granted when it comes to safety. Within his company, this year’s winner is recognized as a proven leader among his fellow drivers, and he has a tremendous amount of respect for his fellow drivers, the motoring public, his customers and everyone within his company.”

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) is an international trade association of nearly 1,400 members from 49 nations. Members are involved in specialized transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance, millwrighting and crane and rigging operations, manufacturing and rental. SC&RA helps members run more efficient and safer businesses by monitoring and affecting pending legislation and regulatory policies at the state and national levels; researching and reporting on safety concerns and best business practices; and providing five yearly forums where these and other relevant member issues can be advanced.
