Sen. Hutchinson speaking on Senate floor now

|  March 18, 2009 |

Sen. Hutchison should be speaking on the Senate floor as I write this. He was expected to speak at 1:15 p.m. EST today in support of the nomination of former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk to the Cabinet post of U.S. Trade Representative, according to a media alert from Hutchison’s press office.

Why does this matter to the industry? With so many equipment companies in the industry affiliated with overseas parent companies and the “Buy American” initiative that has been widely talked about, trade is certainly an issue of concern.

A press release and satellite advisory will follow, according to the press office. We’ll keep you posted.
