Rockydale Quarries invests $10 million in new operation

Roanoke, Va.,-based Rockydale Quarries Corp. has opened a new site, operating as Rockydale-Charlottesville Quarry, in Earlysville, Va., two miles north of the Charlottesville, Va., city limits.

“We are excited to be a part of the greater Albemarle community and look forward to taking our place as a valued member of this community and a responsible corporate citizen,” Ken Randolph, president of Rockydale, says in a written statement. “Regulated by numerous federal and state agencies, our industry promotes a commitment to safety at all times. Rockydale makes that same commitment and will strive to maintain good relationships with our neighbors.”

Randolph notes that the company is “extremely excited about the future of Rockydale and are continually exploring potential growth opportunities.”

Rockydale will invest about $10 million in the quarry operation and will create up to 10 new jobs for the area market.

Rockydale-Charlottesville Quarry became an approved Virginia Department of Transportation source of construction materials in late August and shortly after began selling aggregates to local area businesses and contractors.

The Rockydale-Charlottesville Quarry is a 189-acre site that marks the sixth location in operation for Rockydale Quarries.

“We…are extremely excited about the new site and see a lot of growth potential for this market,” states David Willis, vice president of operations for Rockydale. “Our company’s history is based on strong relationships with our customers, employees, and the community.”

Rockydale currently has locations operating in Roanoke, Staunton, Appomattox, Franklin County, and Charlottesville, Va.
