Ritchie Bros. auctions company record $3.9 billion worth of equipment in 2012

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers sold nearly $3.9 billion worth of equipment in 2012, the company announced today.

The $3.9 billion mark is a company record and came through 328 unreserved auctions around the world. The sales represent a 5 percent increase in gross auction proceeds over 2011 and the company saw $1 billion in auction proceeds in the fourth quarter alone.

Meanwhile, the company is seeing impressive growth online. Rbauction.com attracted 5 million unique visitors through the year. More importantly, the company saw a record number of online bidder registrations, selling nearly $1.3 billion of equipment, trucks and other assets to online bidders in 2012. That number is an 18% increase over 2011 and a company record for online sales.
