The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has added important updates to its compact excavator safety manual, which is now offered in a Spanish/English version.
The 52-page manual features a new section on trenching safety, and AEM has expanded the sections on safe mounting and dismounting; utility locating practices; attachment installation; quick coupler installation, use and maintenance and new safety design features. Ranking for “construction machinery operator” in CareerCast’s list of 200 jobs, based on income (estimated at $40,000 for operators), working environment, stress, physical demands and job outlook. Bottom of the list positions included mail carrier, photojournalist, child care worker and emergency medical technician.
