Prospector XL is a Ram 2500/3500 off-road conversion with work truck credentials

Updated Dec 9, 2016

If your work truck of choice is a Ram 2500 or 3500 and your projects take you into some particularly rugged jobsite conditions (or you just need some modifications to make your Ram a bit more capable for recreational purposes) a new off-road conversion from American Expedition Vehicles is worth taking a look at.

prospector-xl-ram-25003500-11Designed with those who want serious off-road capability in a heavy duty pickup without sacrificing towing capability, the Prospector XL Ram 2500/3500 is a conversion that features a heavy-duty stamped steel front bumper, a wide stance and AEV’s HighMark fender flares that open up the front and rear wheel wells to allow for giant 40-inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires with only 3 inches of suspension lift.

The tires are wrapped around AEV’s Katla wheels and AEV says this combo is meant to provide maximum traction while delivering a smooth highway ride.

The end result is higher ground clearance with a low center of gravity for optimized on-road handling

The truck also features Bilstein 5100 series shocks, a heavy-duty hydraulic assist steering kit for reduced driver fatigue and stress on the steering box, a vented heat reduction hood, iron tow loops and support for a 16,500-pound winch.

Pricing on Prospector XL conversions start at $17,354 and comes with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. The following options are also available:

  • Raised air intake with two air inlet configurations: traditional Air Ram or High Efficiency Dust Filtration System
  • Warn 1.6ti winch
  • Various auxiliary lighting configurations
  • Two different leather interior packages
