Liebherr expands crawler loader offering, opens U.S. demo area
Expanding its crawler loader lineup, Liebherr Construction Equipment has released its LR614 and LR 624 models, which join the previously announced LR634. Powered by Tier 3 engines, the two new models increase Liebherr’s offering from 1.57-cubic-yard to 3.14-cubic-yard bucket capacities.
The 101-horsepower LR614 offers a compact machine for landscapers, smaller contractors or those dealing with tight operating quarters. The LR614 has a full-sized operator’s cab with standard AC. With an engine mounted at the rear of the machine and a long running gear, the LR614 has a 16,751-pound tipping load.
The LR624 replaces the LR622, offering significant upgrades, including a new operator’s cab that won a European design award. Cab upgrades include single joystick control, a single-piece curved glass windshield offering visibility during the full bucket dig-dump cycle. Cab noise, now at 78 decibels, has been reduced by 2 decibels.
Other LR 624 improvements:
· The oscillation bar zerk fitting has been moved from underneath the machine at the oscillation point – often overlooked in maintenance intervals – to the side the machine, positioned next to the hydraulic test ports.
· The Tier 3 engine allowed a 13 horsepower increase, enabling designers to use larger travel drive motors, attached directly to the main frame instead of being externally mounted. The larger motors, protected from the elements, increase torque by 10 percent.
· A final drive seal monitoring system that warns operators if one the double seals has been compromised. (Liebherr also has this feature on their dozers.)
· The fuel fill is now moved to left side of the machine, eliminating the need to go under or over the lift arms when fueling.
