Prinoth gets RAD with debut of Panther T16 track carrier at ICUEE (PHOTOS)

Prinoth’s new Panther T16 track carrier introduces a new chassis system for the company named Rapid Attach Design, or RAD, which allows quick changes with no frame alterations needed. The company launched the machine at the 2015 International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition in Louisville Sept. 30.

This new “modular concept” also provides improved front-to-back stiffness and torsional rigidity in additional to the time and labor savings the company says is inherent to the design.

“The new RAD chassis of our Panther T16 is a unique innovation and will raise the bar in terms of productivity for our customers in the power and utility sector,” said Jean-Claud Perreault, vice president of sales for North America.

“Our customers will save hundreds of hours with their equipment installation. It is a design that we have created in collaboration with implement OEM’s to minimize their challenges of sub-base assembly to a tracked vehicle.”

The T16 offers a Cat C7.1 Tier 4 final engine and has a payload of 33,500 lbs. Ground pressure is rated at 1.83 psi unloaded and 4.1 psi fully loaded. As with the other Panther models, the T16 can be fitted with a one- or two-person cab.

Prinoth Account Manager Bill York described the operation of the new machine as easy to learn, saying someone new to the equipment could be operating it within five minutes. “It’s like a garden tractor,” he added, “except bigger.”
