Unveiled with the 2014 models, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 went seven years before its latest redesign. Possibly inspired by the positive response the truck maker has seen with its midsize 2015 Colorado, it looks like Chevy won’t be waiting quite as long on the next Silverado facelift.

According to a report from Truck Trend, the 2017 Silverado might be getting a few design tweaks to, “bring it into line with the midsize Colorado, while providing some distance from the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD.”

Based on the photos, it looks as if Chevy is doing away with the Silverado’s current headlamp design of two lamps stacked on top of one another in favor of a single lamp like the Colorado.

The turn signal in the spy shots has also shifted, falling below the headlamp rather than placed alongside it as on the current model. They sound like slight changes, but the facia of the truck would definitely look more like the Colorado.

Truck Trend also points out a different, more aerodynamic shape to the hood and front fenders, which would be a bit of a departure from the current model’s starkly square look. The body line from tailgate to front end is also a bit more sloped, another change that would bring the truck more inline with the kicked-up look of the Colorado’s back end.

Plus, the publication is hearing rumblings about powertrain updates and possibly a new V-6 motor that “might give Ford’s EcoBoost engine a run for its money.” You can read more about it all over at Truck Trend.
