Park & Ride facilities coming to Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90)

Pace park and rideThe Illinois Tollway and Pace will partner to build Park and Ride facilities on Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in coordination with the Tollway’s $2.5 billion I-90 rebuilding and widening project.

“This major infrastructure project will help drive economic development throughout the area, and I applaud the Illinois Tollway and Pace for working together to get it moving,” Governor Pat Quinn said. “New bus service on I-90 coupled with direct access to Park & Ride lots will make it easier for workers and customers to reach local businesses in the Northwest suburbs and Chicago.”

The Tollway will accommodate transit and direct access for the public to Pace bus service along one of its roadways. The agreement with Pace will feature the first Park & Ride facilities constructed on the Tollway system, including three new Park & Ride facilities at Randall Road, Illinois Route 25 and Barrington Road.

The new facilities will initially provide space for 225 vehicles, with the ability to accommodate as many as 450 vehicles in the future.

I-90’s rebuilding and widening project will provide $240 million to integrate transit in partnership with Pace. When all is said and done, the new I-90 will feature wider inside lanes and shoulders to handle bus traffic and will have the ability to support bus-only lanes if needed in the future.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
