OSHA targets Texas

Posted By Tom Jackson On June 29, 2009 @ 10:57 am In Construction News | No Comments

Saying Texas has more construction related deaths than any other state, the Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis says OSHA plans a “constructive safety initiative,” [1]in the Lone Star State. The initiative begins in July and OSHA’s ramp up will include hiring 130 more inspectors and 25 more “discrimination” inspectors.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Solis also signaled a new, more aggressive stance, saying: “We’re here to help companies provide a safe workplaces, but we’ll also crack down on those who don’t.”
