Our sister site Total Landscape Care recently visited with the folks at New Holland to take a look at the company’s updated 200 Series skid steers and to talk about an organizational change within the company.
The primary update to the skid steers is the addition of Tier 4 engines. On its L218 and L220 machines, New Holland used the high-pressure common rail and diesel oxidation catalyst and will have no DPF (diesel particulate filter), meaning no filter to maintenance and no regeneration, TLC reports.
Though its horsepower remains the same at 60 hp, the L218 now has 7 percent more torque. Meanwhile, the L220 boasts a peak torque that is 21 percent higher and a 12-percent boost in horsepower from 60 to 60 hp.
New Holland’s also updated the L213 skid steer while introducing the L216—a replacement for the L215. These machines feature a mechanical injection and, unlike their siblings the L218 and L220, will have a DPF.
The L213 skid steer features a 2.2-liter ISM engine and a boost in horsepower from 46 to 49 hp, along with a 9.6-percent boost in torque. The L216’s operating lift capacity has been boosted to 1,600 pounds from the L215 and boasts 8 more horsepower. A hydraulic quick coupler is available for both the L213 and L216.
