White started with Superior Paving in 1976 when the company first began doing work for the Virginia Department of Transportation. He served as NAPA chairman in 2007, Virginia Asphalt Association president in 1991-92 and 2005-06, and president of the Heavy Construction Contractors Association (HCCA) in Northern Virginia in 1997.

NAPA says White was crucial in implementing warm-mix asphalt in the U.S., serving as co-chair of the Warm-Mix Asphalt Technical Working Group from 2008-2011, a time in which he worked with the Federal Highway Administration to develop research funding and “an industry consensus around the benefits and value of warm-mix asphalt.”

He also served as chair of NAPA’s Pavement Economics Committee in 2012. The group was created by the association and the state asphalt pavement associations to fund research and lobbying efforts to “quantify and extend the advantages of asphalt pavements.”

Since 2005 he has been on the board of trustees for the NAPA Research & Education Foundation, he is currently chair of the HCCA Sidney R. Johnston Memorial Trust education foundation and serves on the executive steering committee of the Virginia Education center for Asphalt Technology established last year.

“The Asphalt Pavement Hall of Fame is pleased to recognize Ron White for his outstanding leadership and for his many contributions to the asphalt industry both in Virginia and across the nation,” says Mike Cote, 2015 NAPA chairman. “He has been a constant champion for quality and innovation in asphalt pavements.”
