Southeastern Equipment opens rental store aimed at small contractors

Southeastern Equipment Company has opened a new Southeastern Rents location in Cambridge, Ohio. Aimed at smaller contractors, the location will feature light earthmoving equipment from Case and Kubota, Genie aerial lifts and light compaction equipment, chippers, grinders and chippers. Supplies such as hand tools, safety signs, measuring tape, safety gear and more will also be available.

Daimler Trucks to hire 600 at Mt. Holly plant

Daimler Trucks North America will add a third shift to operations at its Mt. Holly, North Carolina plant over the next three months, hiring approximately 600 people in the process. The new positions will be composed of 580 manufacturing jobs and 25 supervisory, engineering and administrative positions. Daimler expects to fill all positions by mid-July. This will bring the total number of employees in the company’s truck and parts facilities to nearly 3,000. The move is to accommodate customer demand for the Freightliner Business Class M2 line of medium and severe duty trucks.

In other Daimler news, Henning O. Bruns has been named the general manager for the Daimler Trucks North America truck manufacturing plant in Cleveland, North Carolina. Since joining Daimler in 1991, Bruns has worked in operations functions in the passenger car segment in Bremen, Germany, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as well as the trucks segment in Sao Bernardo, Brazil, and Mannheim, Germany. The Cleveland plant manufactures the Cascadia Evolution and the Western Star 5700.

Toro adds two dealers to underground distribution network

The Toro Company has added Georgia-based Border Equipment and North Dakota-based Titan Machinery to their underground equipment dealer distribution network. Titan Machinery will offer the full line of Toro underground equipment throughout the Western and upper Midwestern regions of the United States, and Border Equipment will serve the entire state of Georgia.

JCB’s dealer network adds new Texas locations

Cisco Equipment Sales, headquartered in Odessa, Texas, will open a new division, Cisco JCB, at its San Angelo, Texas, location. The dealership will rent and sell JCB backhoes, wheel loaders, telescopic handlers, compact excavators, skid steers and compact track loaders, as well as providing equipment service, support and financing.

The Hlavinka Equipment Company, headquartered in East Bernard, Texas, will open a new division, Hlavinka JCB, in Victoria, Texas. The dealer will sell the full range of JCB equipment, as well as providing equipment rental, service, support and financing, and will also have a JCB operations manager on site.

Airtow Trailers opens new Ohio manufacturing facility

Airtow Trailers has established a new manufacturing facility in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Part of the company’s plan to drive the continued growth of its trailer business, the site allows Airtow to expand further into central and eastern United States.

CIRT elects Gilbane exec as chairman

The Construction Industry Round Table, a national business trade association of 115 chief executives from design and construction companies, has elected Thomas F. Gilbane Jr., of Gilbane Building Cos. as chairman of the organization for a one-year term. Gilbane, which was founded in 1873 and is a privately held company, has more than 50 office locations around the world. He succeeds Patricia Rodgers, president and CEO of Rodgers Builders.

The following members were also elected as officers:

  • Ralph Hawkins, FAIA, FACHA, LEED AP, Chairman of HKS, Dallas, Texas, as vice chairman;
  • Wayne A. Drinkward, Chairman and CEO of Hoffman Corporation, Portland, Oregon, as Treasurer; and
  • Patricia “Pat” Rodgers, President & CEO of Rodgers Builders, Charlotte, North Carolina, will continue on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chairman.

In addition to the executive committee elections, the following will serve as new directors through 2018:

  • Thomas M. Keckeis, President and CEO, Messer Construction, Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Deryl McKissack, P.E., PMP, CEO and President, McKissack & McKissack, Washington, D.C.

Rudd Equipment Company joins SDLG dealer network

SDLG-thumbLouisville, Kentucky-based Rudd Equipment has joined SDLG’s dealer network, and will sell the company’s lineup of four wheel loaders.

Todd Shepard, sales manger for Rudd’s Indianapolis branch, says offering the range of wheel loaders will give customers an alternative to higher priced machines.

Rudd Equipment has four locations across the Midwest.

Hill International relocates to Philadelphia

Hill International, a construction management firm with 100 offices worldwide, has relocated their headquarters from Marlton, New Jersey, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The new office, designed by L2Partridge and constructed by Intech Construction, has approximately 60,000 square feet of office space.

Skyjack partners with Michael Gray Memorial Ski and Snowboard Race

Michael Gray Memorial Ski & Snowboard Race_1Skyjack has completed the company’s first 30 For 30 Partners project by supporting the 15th annual Michael Gray Memorial Ski and Snowboard Race to benefit The Adaptive Sports Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit that provides disabled people with opportunities to enjoy skiing and snowboarding.

Held in March in Windham, New York, the event included a race, raffle, dinner and dance. Skyjack donated $2,500 to the event, which raised $50,000 to benefit the foundation.

ECA, NECP merge

Equipment Corporation of America, a distributor of foundation construction equipment including drills pile hammers and anchor and micropile drills, has merged with sister company New England Construction Products to form ECA Boston. The Taunton, Massachusetts-based firm will serve Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Maine and Rhode Island.

IMT names new customer support manager

Iowa Mold Tooling has hired Holly McCoy-Nelson as a customer support manager. McCoy-Nelson will lead customer service and aftermarket support teams at IMT, focusing on customer relationships, process improvement, leadership and project management.

Penray launches diesel Fuel Doctor program

Penray has developed a program designed to support and assist fleets, distributors and any other facility that stores large quantities of diesel fuel. Fuel Doctors are trained field reps that perform diesel fuel sampling, analysis and treatment. The Fuel Doctor will perform storage tank testing to determine the presence of water, sulfurous odor, slime and gelling, and then send the sample to a lab for detailed chemical analysis. Following an analysis, the Fuel Doctor schedules a consultation with the customer to discuss the results and potential remediation.

Trimble opens SITECH location in New Zealand

Trimble has established a SITECH technology dealer in New Zealand. Representing Trimble and Caterpillar machine control systems, as well as Trimble’s portfolio of Connected Site Solutions, SITECH New Zealand offers a full range of site positioning systems, construction asset management services and communications infrastructure.

Indica names Walter Surface Technologies Supplier of the Year

Indica Marketing Group, Canada’s largest industrial, construction and safety supply group, has named Walter Surface Technologies the Supplier of the Year. To determine the winner, more than 100 of Indica’s distributors submitted votes to select their best supplier, based on sales support and training, customer service, marketing programs, promotions, product merchandising support and overall product quality and performance.

Property Damage Appraisers names executive team

Property Damage Appraisers, a national network of appraisers of heavy equipment and other assets, has made named key personnel to their leadership team. The following insurance executives have been named to the team: Kenneth Loose, chief operations officer; Tom Slimak, chief business development officer; David Eisman, chief sales and marketing officer; George Lyle, chief financial officer; and Katherine Slate, chief administrative officer. Additionally insurance executive Tresa Loose has been named vice president of marketing and sales.
